Dr. Brown's AP Rounds

Recorded Lectures

We have our conferences scheduled typically on Wednesday
mornings in POB 303. A
lecture schedule is online which
should allow you to read on topics prior to conference.
Postcall students are excused after completing Team Learning
(if scheduled).

Once conference is concluded, it is expected that students
will resume their previous duties.

A certain amount of flexibility is assumed and built into
the lecture schedule. Thus it is important to periodically check
the
lecture schedule. Every effort will be made to make up
missed lectures and notify you of changes.
UTMB has implemented a series “Team Learning Experiences”
similar to PBL during 1st/2nd year.

The
required readings associated with each exercise may be
found in your textbook (Beckman) or in your Team Learning CD.
It is imperative that these readings be completed ahead of time.
Most students will attend 3 or 4 Team Learning cases during the
rotation but it is expected that all students will do the required
reading.
Morbidity and Mortality conference is primarily held for
the residents where they will present cases which provide
opportunity for critical review. Students are welcome and
invited to attend the conference which usually takes place
on the 4th Wednesday of the month in CEC 1.203.
Dr. Nix usually oversees the M&M conference.
The students who are assigned to HROB clinic or L&D
on Tuesday mornings should attend Dr. Brown's AP rounds
held in the 4th floor conference room at noon.
This is a multidisciplanary session held once a week involving
physicians, nurses, and social workers.
Our program is built around independent study
and clinical integration. We've found that traditional lectures
can tax a student's attention and so we keep these to a minimum.
However, for those wishing for even more lectures,
UTMB provides online recordings of several
topics.
These may also be helpful towards the end of the course
in spotlighting certain areas on obstetrics.
